Teaching
Philosophy

Music is magic.  Music is emotion.  I love being a musician because I have the opportunity to illuminate that magic and emotion for my students and audiences.

As an educator I foster a loving and caring environment for the student to learn and create.  Each student has a different personality as well as different goals for their musical journey, and I enjoy learning with them.  My goal is to guide my students, and show them the different opportunities where they can use their talents.  It is not up to me to make those decisions for them, but instead let them find what speaks to them the most as a person and musician.

I grew up in a small community that had a surprisingly large number of talented musicians who shaped me into the musician I am today.  I teach to pass on the joy and knowledge I was fortunate to receive.  The arts are an apprentice based craft, so the act of teaching is very natural to occupy most musicians lives.  As an educator, I hope to instill my joy and love of music to my students.
