Welcome to my blog!

Welcome! If you feel you have taken a time warp to 2005 and the height of blogs, you may have.  While it’s 2022 and we have moved on to the short form of TikTok videos, I felt it was time to return to the medium of the blog and create content for my community to digest.  As I am closing in on ten years of teaching in Higher Ed and twenty years of teaching privately, I have thoughts and ideas I believe are important to share.  I was a student in a small town of 3,000, with few that were able to help me directly with the oboe.  I was left to learn much of it on my own.  At that time things like YouTube and even Facebook didn’t exist.  I would have been in heaven if I could have searched Google for help on the oboe or conversations on oboe topics, but those things were in their infancy when I was a beginner.

So what is this going to be then, you might be asking?  Well, I want to share my knowledge of oboe pedagogy, give some tips and tricks that I have come across in my life, and share my opinions on various topics.  I’ll also share what’s going on in my musical life and research I’m currently buried in.

So when can you expect to see content from me?  Well, I’m not sure and don’t want to be beholden to a specific schedule because that just sounds like a big ball of stress.  So to avoid that we’ll say there will be 1-2 posts a month, or more if I’m feeling excited and productive.

I hope you come away from my blog with helpful knowledge and an idea of my life as a musician in the world of Higher Ed.
